Shirley Mae Urbanowski 87, of Janesville (La Prairie Township) died at her home on Tuesday, March 17, 2015 with her family at her side following a long illness. The former Shirley Mae Reeder, the daughter of Glen and Lulu (Hampf) Reeder was born on April 20, 1927 in La Prairie Township. She was a life-long Rock County resident and graduated from Janesville High School in 1944. She married Raymond Urbanowski on September 6, 1947 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Janesville. They resided for many years in Janesville prior to building a home on the family farm where she was born in La Prairie Township. She was formerly employed by Parker Pen Company and later by Elliot’s Clothing Store. Shirley was a member of St. John Vianney Roman Catholic Church in Janesville, the Elk’s Ladies, the La Prairie Homemakers Club and the Catholic Women’s Club. Shirley enjoyed spending time in northern Wisconsin in the summer and Arizona in the winter, as well as traveling to visit family. She also enjoyed gardening and square dancing.
Shirley Urbanowski is survived by her husband of 67 years, Raymond Urbanowski, her son, Steven (Judy) Urbanowski of Maumee, OH, her daughter, Donna Robinson of Lake Oswego, OR, grandsons, Christopher and Matthew Robinson and nieces, Kathy McCarthy (Dennis) of Rockford, IL and Cindy Richter (Bill) of Fort Wayne, IN. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Virginia Corrado and brother-in-law, Dean Corrado.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 21, 2015 at St. John Vianney Roman Catholic Church. Monsignor Donn Heiar will preside. Burial will follow in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Visitations are from 4 to 6 p.m. Friday, March 20th at Henke-Clarson Funeral Home and at the Church on Saturday from 10 to 11 a.m. Memorials may be made to Agrace Hospice or St. John Vianney Roman Catholic Church.
